Dr. Betty Simawua Annan is the Country Director for AGRA in Ghana and for over 15 years worked in agriculture, environment and rural development, including as the Country Director of the World Cocoa Foundation, Country Manager for Agribusiness Systems International, Country Manager for Fairtrade Africa and as a Global Technical Advisor for Markets and Value Chains with Catholic Relief Services in Baltimore, US. She possess very strong understanding of agricultural value chains and agribusiness development, technical knowledge of environmental and social dimensions of natural resource management, good policy and risk analysis, research experience, excellent government, stakeholder engagement and policy dialogue skills. Betty is dedicated to empowering the youth particularly young women and mentoring the next generation of agribusiness leaders. Betty shares her knowledge and experience to inspire and guide others in her field.
Betty holds a PhD in Environmental Science from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, US; MSc in Natural Resources from University of Greenwich, UK; and a BSc in Agriculture from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.
