Dr. Garba Maina Ahmed is a veterinary and public health expert with FAO Ghana, where he leads Emergency Center for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) at the FAO Country
Office in Accra and supports regional epidemiology activities in West and Central Africa region. He has championed the institutionalization of digital surveillance and early warning tools
like Event Mobile Application (EMA-i) for real-time animal disease monitoring and reporting. Advocating the One Health approach, he has partnered with institutions to
improve food safety, reduce zoonotic disease risks, and build capacity across the meat and poultry value chains, including good emergency management practice.
