Nafisatu is a Gender and Development professional and a certified Empowerment Coach from the Empowerment Institute in New York. She earned her MSc in Social Policy and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE); a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with Information Studies from the University of Ghana; and a Post Graduate Certificate in Community Development from the Trent University in Peterborough, Canada.
Over the last decade and above, Nafisatu’s career has been dedicated to the development and management of programs specifically focused on women’s leadership, political participation, climate change and gender in agriculture value chains.
She has also advocated for women’s rights and gender equality in different policy spaces including at the national, regional, and international levels. She has specifically engaged and advocated for gender perspectives in the decisions of the African Ministerial Conference on Environment (AMCEN) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
She has previously served as the regional gender focal person for the Women’s Environment & Development Organization (WEDO), under the Global Gender and Climate Alliance and has actively coordinated different CSO networks on climate change including the Gender Action on Climate Change for Equality and Sustainability (GACCES), and the Ghana Climate Change Coalition (GCC).
She is currently the country Lead for Gender & Safeguarding at the Mastercard Foundation in Ghana and acting Gender Lead for Nigeria.
