Irene Susana Egyir is an Associate Professor in the University of Ghana at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness. She is the immediate past Dean of UG School of Agriculture. Her research and consultancies have focused on the agricultural economy and sustainable food systems, with special interest in youth, gender and Microfinance.
Irene has made a number of contributions in published articles, books, technical reports, and conference proceedings across the continents. Irene serves as Board Member or Chair of several public and private institutions, including the Ghana TVET Service, New Age Agric Solutions, Grow-For-Me Limited, Aquamet Limited, Peasant Farmers Association, and The Hunger Project.
She has founded a development NGO named Multi-Features and Capacity Enhancing Services which links urban micro-entrepreneurs to Research, Extension, Finance, Cooperative and Media (REFCOM) Services. Irene likes to spend her past time selling local brown rice, kokonte and honey or managing a 3-acre mango farm.
